Well it's a very good place to start after all.
I've decided that the first thing i'm gonna let you guys in on, is an old piece. The first real piece I made in uni that I finally, recently was able to wear.
In second year in uni I was tasked with making a dress to fit with a design theme, the theme I chose was "English Tea Party" (rather unoriginal I know), and therefore you may understand why I chose the fabrics and design details.
It's a purple and indigo floral printed cotton dress, fully lined, princess line shape, knee length, boat neckline, low back, piped in butterscotch/gold satin around the neckline and armscye (like the gold rim of a cup). It began with an A-line skirt as that was the pattern I was made to use in uni, and was only allowed to adapt the top of it (it originally should have been high round necked and backed.) However, last Thursday, in prep for the wedding I planned to wear it to on Saturday, I threw it on, pinned 'er in and stitched 'er up, resulting in this little lady:
